NJ Gathering: Babies on the Boardwalk!

Okay... next Sunday (September 19th) is the long anticipated Babies on the Boardwalk event ... anyone who is within driving distance of Point Pleasant NJ and would like to join us for an afternoon of strolling the boardwalk, doing a few rides, and having lunch is more than welcome (perhaps there are some NY or CT people who aren't too far from Pt. Pleasant?)

Where is a good place to meet at Pt. Pleasant? I was thinking we should plan to meet around 11:30 a.m., have a walk and picnic (bring your own picnic lunch) and stay until afternoon nap time ... My plan is to put Alex in the car around 10 a.m. and have him sleep on the way there and back... does that work for everyone else too?

If not, we can rework the plan... oh, and where should we meet? The only place I truly know in Point Pleasant is the Tikki Bar from my wilder, pre-Alex days... setting a Bar as a meeting place does not seem like a good idea, so if anyone is familiar and can suggest something different then pipe up!

Roll call on who is planning to come... please respond!

Looking forward to getting a snapshot of all our babies by the Jersey Shore....

Cannot make it this time

Skiboo,

Sorry - cannot make it this time - a very busy weekend, a lot of homework, parents visiting, etc. - but please keep everyone posted about the next gathering, and I hope to be part of it.

I'm In

Looking forward to seeing the crew next Sunday. Rides will be a must with my little one. She thinks that that is the only thing that the boardwalk is for.

I will work on the details of a meeting location. I have one in my head, I just need to make sure that I can explain where it is.

Might be bringing the twins too. Just an FYI

Yeah for the twins coming... I have been wanting to meet them and their Mom!

In regards to lunch... Tara brought up a good point when I was talking with her about it being easier to buy food on the boardwalk than to try and haul around picnics etc... I have been really good on my diet lately (lost 2 pounds last week... yeah me!), so I am going to suggest that we truly give summer its last hurrah and indulge in some good boardwalk junk food for lunch (except for the babies of course... they will still have to make do with pureed jars of healthy stuff).

Dvona: You still coming?

Dina: Been thinking of you lots... hope all is well with your Mom and that your first weeks back at school have been going smoothly. Hope you will be able to make it to the Boardwalk...

Oh, one more thing... I watched the news this morning and the path of Ivan might hit NJ next weekend.... *sigh*

I may be in... possibly with a nephew. Was hoping to be packing -- but no call yet!

Maybe the last hurrah at the beach this summer. I second Skiboo's motion to toss the diet aside for a day and eat the wonderful boardwalk cuisine!

I'm in, weather permitting. We could meet at the octagon (or is it hexagon) shaped First Aid building, which is a gray building in the middle of the boardwalk. This is close to the rides and to the junk food. Just a thought...

BTW, I'm going solo as the dh is working.

You know you all make the rest of us wish we live in Jersey right? You should take some pics at your next event and post them - it would be great to see some of the kids together!

I have to check with Hopper and with the fam--I had a niece born on 9/9 and my brother and SIL might need some help. I'll let you know.

On the other hand, Ivan might be deciding for us...do we have a rain date?

We're a possibility depending on soccer.

Any plans for that day if it rains?

If anyone has good directions from this area, that would be great!

I just checked the weather for Point Pleasant, and they're predicting solid rain for about a week, starting tonight. Does anyone have a rainy-day activity in mind, or should we reschedule?

Rescheduling probably wouldn't work out since we are entering what I am starting to think of as the "Birthday" Season. I know that not all of us are having large parties and some are just doing family gatherings, but after this weekend there is a Birthday every weekend ... 5 of the babies in our group were born between Sept. 26th and October 26th! So, I know for me that I have no more free weekends until November (also, we are doing Alex's baptism in October and I have to start working weekend at the library once more, just to add to the confusion).

Rainy day ideas... hmmm...lets come up with something! My dh is even free for once and wants to come meet with some of the other dads!!!

We need like a kids museum or play place or something... maybe it won't rain...

On rainy days we usually end up at Chuck E Cheese (Rt. 1 in West Windsor.) It's great for 3 year olds and up, but I'm not sure about 1 year olds....

All the places that were good for that age (Wonder Museum, Romp Around, Explorations, etc..) closed.
