Tragic Adoption Story

As I was reading the paper this evening I came across a tragic adoption story. A couple from here in Texas was on their second trip to Russia to adopt a 10 year old boy. The night before the court date the wife collapses from a pulmonary embolism while playing with they boy. She dies by the time the ambulance reaches the Hospital. The court date was indefinably postponed and now he is returning to Russia to complete the adoption. I have attached a copy of the article from the Dallas Morning News.

Please pray for this family,

Jeff

What an amazing and very sad story! I'm glad the little boy is still going to get a home, and I'm glad that the family can live on through the dreams!!!

WOW! Doesn't that make all our little ups and downs associated with the adoption process look miniscule! My heart goes out to that Dad. I think it is wonderful what his daughters are willing to do. I hope that adoption goes through. It certainly sounds like such a deserving family!

i will say that going to the orphanage for the first time and going to your court appearance are VERY stressful. i had the first true anxiety attack i had ever had and hyperventilated for about 3 hours on the way to the orphanage. i could only breathe tiny breathes into my hand. i told my driver and translator that i was pretty nervous, they said that i would be ok. they didn't know what i was going through. there is so much buildup for a year and then its down to the final moments. i took medication with me on trip two - i didn't want to go through that again. now it is kind of humerous - but not then. i was way out in the middle of nowhere, thousands of miles from my family, accepting the responsibility of a new child, and hoping to make a good impression - and there wasn't a toilet anywhere and i drank too much coffee!!

I live near where the family is and the two older biological daughters both deferred their enrollment in the university where I teach. But, I have been in contact w/ the two bio daughters via e-mail.

Please keep this family in your prayers. There is a bunch of new paperwork and many hoops that must be jumped to get the little boy back over here. They are all commited to getting him back, but the mother's death was a setback in more ways than one! I'm sure they would appreciate your prayers, especially for the little boy who was there to see the whole thing unfold in front of him.

Mike
