What medication should I take with me?

I am leaving this Thursday on trip #2 to pick up my bio sisters ages 2 and 4. What medications should I bring with me for my girls? I'm looking for over the counter suggestions and prescription suggestions. Thank you

I'm so excited!!!!!

If you're working with an IA pediatrician, a lot of times they will prescribe a broad spectrum antibiotic and/or scabies cream for you to take. For OTC, I would recommend:

Infant/children's Tylenol
Infant/children's Motrin
Neosporin
Hydrocortisone cream
Benadryl or other antihistamine
Cough syrup
Pepto Bismol

I'm sure there are others I'm forgetting, but that should get you started.

I would add pediatric glycerine suppositories to the list.

One more:

Apparently the children can get car/motion sick. I would take some Dramamine (sp?) if it is possible to give to children.

meds

I am going to ask for an antibiotic that is mixed when needed (I think Zithromax is) and also meds for scabies and also ear drops. There is a website somewhere that tells you what you will need and also has an IA doc who will send you the scripts Motrin and tylenol are a must and also maybe lice shampoo. Hope this helps

Those drops for gas - Mylocon? (sp?)

Also ask your pediatrician if you should go ahead & get a prescription filled for Flagyl or Alinia for giardia in case your kids have that (smelliest poop you can possibly imagine).

Ask your pediatrician for the dosages too! It's based on weight. Most of the bottles have doses for ages, but that's an American standard...

As for Dramamine--Motion sickness drug--it does come in chewable OTC and the amount needed is a small portion of a pill...a bit of a challenge. Again, ask your pediatrician if you can.

Good luck!
