Hi,
I am 24 years old. My Hubby is 30 I used to post on here when my hubby and I were going through our own infertility problems. My hubby had severe low count sperm and low mobility. In Dec 2003 we did ONE try at IVF/ICSI. It resulted in a non-pregnancy (my beta was 8). My hubby wanted to do another "round". I said no way! I never wanted to try IVF/ICSI in the first place. I accepted my hubbys low count because I always wanted to adopt anyways because I am also an adopted child. SO......... January 2004 we chose an agency and started out paperwork process to adopt from Russia. We are so glad we did. We are now done with the paperwork and have been assigned a region in Russia. We are going to UFA. We now are Next on the list for a 6-10 month old boy or girl. We are so happy and feel blessed. TODAY...... I took a pregnancy test just for the heck of it because I was one day late for my period and I have always been regular. I had 2 unused First Responce tests in my sock drawer and decided for the heck of it to take it, truly expecting it to be negative because I REALLY didnt think it was possible. WELL........INSTATNLY it turned positive and I laughed, walked away to let my dogs out, came back and it still was positive. I stated to cry and cry and cry and called my husband at his work (he thought someone died). I told him and he was in shock. he never thought it was possible either. 4 differnt doctors told us we would not cocieve and that we had a 1-3 % chance of ever conciving on our own. THEY WERE WRONG. MIRACLES HAPPEN. I tested within 2 hours 4 other tests. 2 Digital Clear Blue Easy (instantly said PREGNANT) and one other First Responce (instant +). I truly truly believe that STRESS is a MAJOR MAJOR factor for couples trying so hard to concive natually or through IVF or ICSI. If you can, give yourselves TIME NOT TRYING. Believe me, WE KNOW the STRESS and HOW HARD IT IS TO WAIT. The statement is true........................."Try not to get pregnant, and you probrably will become pregnant" Best of luck to you all Sarah Rensselaer, IN IVF/ICSI-failed Dec 2003 Jan 2004 started adoption process April 2nd-got out Region in Russia April 12th-------SHOCKING POSITIVE PREGNANCY TEST Our baby from Russia is going to have a little brother or sister in December |

Congratulations! I've always thought doctor's have no way of knowing what is and is not possible. Thats why they call it practicing medicine. God is the only one who really knows. (atleast, thats what I believe)

oh yes of course we are continuing the adoption process. It never ever crossed our mind NOT to. Our baby from Russia is our FIRST baby.
There are no risks to flying while pregnant I know. We have not told our agency. |

Let's see. You attached a photo of 1-2-3-4 pregnancy test sticks that all read positive. This question may sound a bit strange, but ARE YOU EXCITED!?
What wonderful news. And I was very happy to see you are still going through with your adoption. Wow! You've got a busy, but glorious year ahead. Also in the odd department, I guess, is thanks for posting the picture. I had always wondered what a positive stick looked like in real life. Never saw one myself. CONGRATULATIONS!! And I agree with Sheila, God is the only one who really knows. |

We were told the same thing. We recently adopted a baby boy from Russia. We hope that by not thinking about it and not actually trying that maybe someday this will happen for us.
If not oh well , we have our son now , but this is wonderful news. What do the doctors really know anyway?? Vicki H |

Sarah -
that's fantastic news congratulations! We have the same fertility issues as you - I'm sure I would have fainted if I read that positive response after what we were told. My mom kept telling me doctors don't know everything - it's great for that to actually be true for people! Good luck with the pregnancy and the adoption!

Congratulations on your pregnancy!
However, it is VERY important that you not spread the old wives' tale of "stop trying and it will happen". Because that's all it is: an old wives' tale. Your doctors gave you a 1-3 percent chance of conceiving on your own. You played those odds and won. That was entirely within the realm of possibility. But that does not mean that other women would experience the same "miracle", and telling them to stop thinking about it and it will happen is NOT always true. Yes, stress can have an impact on a couple's ability to conceive. But it affects very, very few people that way. If it were universally true, there would be entire nations of people who no longer existed because of it. It may well have affected you, in which case I'm happy for you that you found a way to avoid it, but it does NOT affect everybody that way, and telling other people how to solve their fertility problems can result in a lot of hurt feelings in the person you tell. Again, congratulations. |

Congratulations! This is very exciting for you!
However I would like to stress that this happens only about 5% of the time after adoption, the same as with couples who are infertile and decide to give up. So I share your joy, and am so glad for you, but please anyone out there don't think adoption is the end to infertility- it happens sometimes and thats great- but not the majority of the time. Again congratulations on both your babies-- you are going to be busy! Lisa |
