Home from 1st trip!
Hi everyone. My DH and I just returned from our first trip to meet our son. Our little boy is just adorable and we can't wait to take him home!!!! We returned home on Weds. night and yesterday was his first birthday. We miss him so... I just can't get his cute little smile out of my mind!
Our little boy is in Siberia and our trip was only five days long so our heads are still spinning. My advice to those getting ready for your first trip is to be sure to write all your questions down because you'll be so excited and sleep-deprived that you'll never remember everything! We flew Aeroflot out of JFK and both this flight and our in-country flight were just fine. I was really nervous about the flights so I hope this is good news for those of you who are nervous about flying. You may want to pack some snacks in your carry-ons. One of our friends gave us a care package with a bunch of snacks and it really came in handy on the flights and in the hotel when we needed a quick bite to eat. Also, here's a gift idea that went over big. We brought an electronic ear thermometer and gave it to the orphanage doctor. Her face lit up when we gave it to her and our Coordinator said she'd never seen her so happy. Just be sure to get one that works in Celsius. Anyway, I've been living vicariously through many of you on this Forum for so long it's so nice to be able to have something to contribute! Many of you told us how special it is the first time you meet your child(ren) and I couldn't agree with you more. It's a moment I will treasure for a lifetime. Michele |

I am so glad to hear your trip went ok. Also, to hear your first meeting with your baby went good too. How old is he? Do you have a referral pic? Keep us posted...
