Intro and timeline question

Hi everyone,

I'm new here, but have been lurking for a while. Short story long, my DH and I have been trying (unsucessfully) to start a family for three year. We decided on adoption and started the process in dec/jan. We had decided to use IAG, and have just finished our homestudy this week.

My question is this, I tried to make on appointment with them today and they informed me that they were booked until MAY!!! and that there wait has moved from aproximatly 1-4 months to 6-12 months!!! I was wondering if anyone else had heard about this "new" wait. They are claiming that it is happening everywhere. I was wondering if this was true? I realize that all things in adoption are relative, but has everything changed that much sence jan?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Ailis (another jerseyite!!)

No, this is probably an agency-specific thing - they sound like they're backed up to me! There are MANY MANY other agencies who would be MORE THAN HAPPY to bring you on as a client right now!

Unless there is something compelling you to work with this agency, you might want to look for another one who has the time and desire to take on new clients!

Agency

I highly suggest you look into other agencies. Many are moving along just fine. Best wishes! Lisa

Many of us have had successful experiences with other agencies in addition to the one you are looking at. You can post and request private messages about particular agencies on the board and people can respond privately about thier experiences. Someone else mentioned a 'slowing down' recently (dont know which agency), but it doesnt seem to be that way for everyone. I agree with the two last posts, you probably want to call around. If nothing else it will confirm if there are new delays on the Russian side or if its agency specific.
