Financial Statement
Hi,
My husband and I are getting ready to send out our dossier, and I had a couple questions. We haven't had to fill out any financial statement form yet for our dossier. I have read that one couple filled out one right before their second trip. I guess it was a document needed by the courts. Does anyone know what kind of information you need to fill out in one of these? What does it ask? Does it have you lists all debt? Can the couples fill it out, or does someone do it for you to validate the information? I am wondering because by the time the second trip rolls around we will have added debt ontop of the current debt from infertility, and I really don't know how our debt to income is going to look, unless they look at it on a month to month basis. Our net worth is not that great either since we don't own our own home, and have anything invested since we had the infertility expenses. If we passed the homestudies financial requirement, should we not have to worry about Russia approving us? Sorry for all the questions, but I really am concerned how this may look. Take Care, Jen ![]() P.S.-our annual income exceeds the required amount to adopt from Russia, but mainly concerned about debt. |

We had to include a financial sheet in our dossier. It too had to be notarized and apostilled. It sort of went like this:
ASSET-WHAT WE OWN home, real estate, saving and checking balance, stocks and bonds, furniture and appliances, automobiles and trucks, other vehicles, valuables (collections), 401 K, and other LIABILITIES-WHAT WE OWE mortgage, real estate loans, balance of secured loans (vehicle), unsecure loan balance (credit card), taxes & assessments (past due), medical bills, other liabilities (home equity loan) ALL WE OWN MINUS WHAT WE OWE Annual income of applicant Annual income of spouse Other Income TOTAL INCOME Sorry it's so condensed, but I didn't want to make it huge. Basically it was a spread sheet and each of these items had their own line for us to fill in an amount or not. The bottom of the page was filled with totals. This was included in our dossier though. I would ask your agency about it. Hope this helped! Shana

Statement of Net Worth
First off - rest easy! All they want to know is that you make enough to support a child and you do.
Our agency requires a form called Statement of Net Worth. It looked very similar to Shana's example above. It asked for all assets (including cash, investments, saving accounts, cash value of life insurance, stocks and bonds, real eatate, automobiles, trucks, boats, planes, personal property...=Total Assets) and then it asked for all liabilities (mortgage and real estate notes, monthly notes, accounts payable, taxes, loans with balances, total liabilities ...) then you figure your "net worth" from that. Also, our agency requested you fill it in yourself and it was notorized, apostilled and sent in with the rest of your dossier. Kristi |
