Elections in Russia??

Hi Everyone,

I heard that there are elections going on in Russia at this time and this is why my court date is being held up. Does anyone know if this is true. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

The elections are on March 14th and my caseworker indicated to me that this could cause delays in our travel date... Putin fired his entire cabinet of Ministers and things are in turmoil. I just hope it all comes out okay and that waits are only delayed by a few days or weeks.

Anyone else hear anything? I have been following the news very carefully and it looks like Putin will be re-elected.

I also heard from my agency that things are in a state of flux right now due to upcoming elections - some judges seem to be requiring changes to paperwork, etc...just another curve on the road to adoption.....

Our agency said things we changing a little but they did not forsee any major delays being caused by this election and that if anything happened to change that they would let me know. That was as of this afternoon.

Heard nothing

I haven't heard anything about any delays. I will probably find out when I'm there tomorrow! I will keep you all informed.

I e-mailed my case worker when I heard the thing about the whole cabinet being fired, and he said it was just one guy.

He also said that if we try to follow Russian politics, we'll go insane.

We leave on the 12th and will be in Moscow the 13th & 14th with court in our region on the 15th. We have had no issues with the elections.

In fact the only thing that impacted us is Woman's Day on March 8th....our judge only has adoption hearings on Mondays and since this is a major holiday, our court was delayed one week!

We are going to be in Moscow during the elections and have had no impact from them.

In fact the only thing that delayed us is Woman's Day on March 8th. This is a major holiday and since our judge only does adoption hearings on Mondays, we got bumped one week back.

It is widely assumed that Putin will win the election and will have minimul impact on anything. As for the cabinet firings, this is supposedly a move to generate more interest in the elections which must draw 50% of the people to validate the elections. All this courtesy of CNN online over the past couple of weeks.

We are traveling during the elections also

We leave for Moscow on the 12th of March as well.

Our agency thought possibly that they were trying to get us in and out quickly. Our return trip was booked for the 18th.

I have also not been asked to provide any additional paperwork.
