Nizhny Novgorod
I am a new member of this forum. My husband and I are hoping to adopt two children from Nizhny Novgorod. Has anyone received a referral from this region in the last six months. My understanding is that they are very slow in referring children.
Has anyone heard anything in terms of waiting times for referrals? Thanks. |

I don't know anything about the wait time now, but just wanted to tell you that Nizhniy Novgorod is a wonderful city. We adopted our son there in September 1998 and had a great experience. We loved it there! Good luck to both of you and I hope your wait is not so long!

Don't know much about the region but we did spend 4 hours on their runway in a snowstorm during trip #1 in February.
We couldn't land in Moscow or go back to our region due to the weather, so we just landed there and sat and sat and sat. It looks like a good size city and is a short plane ride to Moscow. Best of luck to you!!!

This is where the monastery is isnt it? We visited there but it was prior to our adoption. If it is the place I'm thinking of, it is really nice. Very beautiful landscape, cheap souveniers
and the monastery (which is where many very famous monks and iconographers in the Russian Orthodox church have lived) has great history, art, and is very lively with many people coming there to attend services that seem to go non stop. The music is so lovely. When we went, it was a several years after Glosnost, and our guide kept saying 'Remember you can worship if you like - it is your right and your priviledge.' Very moving we thought. Melissa |
