Our agency called on Friday to say our dossier is going to be sent to the Novosibirsk region. It's so nice to finally know where we will be going! We had a few region-specific documents to complete that will be sent to the agency today. With luck, our completed dossier should be in Russia this week or next.

Has anyone recently traveled to this region? If so, I'd like to hear about your experiences either here or by PM.

Conratulations! Here's some brief info.

Novosibirsk is the 2nd stop on the Trans-Siberian railway and is the 3rd largest city in Russia. It is an educational center with many research institutes that was/is home to many of the scientists, economists and academic elite. It lies on the banks of the Ob river. The time zone is Greenwich mean + 6, so it is 12 hours ahead of the US Central Time zone.

NICE!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am sooooo excited for you. We are so close together in this adventure. I am re-sending more med docs on my daughter to be apostilled tomorrow (the notary my doc insisted on using has the wrong date on her stamp so the docs I had signed last week could not be apostilled ) Hopefully everything will be sent to Astrakhan next week. Keep us updated in your progress.

One of my friends who I met during our adoption process adopted a 11 month boy & he is ADORABLE & was very healthy. She lives in NJ & is actually going to start her 2nd adoption soon. She had an awesome experience in that region. It also is known for quick court dates. She adopted in July/Aug 2003. I also know there is a YAHOO group with a lot of info.

Thanks for all of the happy thoughts and info everyone! Cathy, thanks for the info on your friend's adoption, too. I was happy to hear our region is known for quick court dates. I signed up yesterday for the Novosibirsk board on Yahoo.

Lisa, there is still a chance that we might be flying to Moscow together for our first trip! Wouldn't that be too cool?!

My dh and I got the regional documents notarized and apostilled on Monday and I overnighted them back to the agency. Hopefully we will hear from them in the next few days that they've sent everything over. I can't believe we are finally so close to waiting for THE CALL!
