experience with Kursk region
Has anyone adopted in the region of Kursk or is anyone currently awaiting a referral from this region? We are waiting for a referral of a male infant under the age of 15 months perferrably. Our dossier was submitted at the end of Nov and we were told 1-4 months for a referral.
So, I am trying to patiently wait. I was just looking for anyone who could give me more info regarding the baby orphanage and their expereince traveling to Kursk. Thanks so much, Kasey |

We are in the same boat as you. Dossier sent...awaiting referrals...except we are likely to go to the Chelyabinsk Region.
I had the same questions regarding that Region and others were not able to provide direct experience. However, one forum member directed us to the adoptfromrussian.com site for regional information. It was great...included weather, landscape, politics, hotels, museums, history, etc for a great many cities and regions. Good luck, it is certainly worth a look. |

Kasey,
My Dh and I adopted two boys in July of 2003 from the Kursk baby orphanage. One was 24months and the other 19months. We used commonwealth adoptions and did the blind refferal. The orphanage was excellant, they even have a small indoor pool and teach the kids to swim. The care varied from groups, our one boy was the favorite. So he was soiled and on target, the other was moved around alot d/t illness, so he was delayed. You can e-mail me if needed. You can buy almost everything in Kursk, the only thing we had a hard time finding was baby wipes. The ones they sell are oily. Best of Luck and Kursk is a wonderful area. The judges are a little tuff. It took us three months to get the 1st call and another 3months for the 2nd call. Take care, Wendy |
