Udmurtia Region on One Trip

Our agency has told us we will be able to adopt in the Udmurtia Region (Glazov, Izshevsk or Votkinsk) on one trip with the 10 day wait waived. And, we are looking at 2 little girls under the age of 4 and one under the age of 2.

Has anyone had recent experience with this region? We are told the orphanages in Glazov and Votkinsk are better than Izshevsk but this could be old information. Also, we are told it is probably a quicker region than Ekaterinburg, which right now may be flooded with parents wishing to adopt.

Anybody know anything?

Thanks, Jackie and Joe

Udmurtia region in one trip

My Agency had Infants available there who were not Medically suitable for Adoption!

Be careful because there is not a lot in health care either!

Izhevsk is actually a city of about 700,000 so its not that small. We did get an email from some folks who lived there stating that the orphanages are highly variable. Some are reportedly pretty good and in others the kids don't hardly even have shoes.

What is interesting is we are the first family going into this region from our agency, however, other agencies have been operating out of this region for some time.

If we wanted to we could insist on a different region, like Ekaterinburg or Tomsk, but, we think its worth it to see what comes of this region first. We do plan on being very careful however and quite particular, at least in not taking anything medically positive with hep. and such. We shall see.

Udmurtia group

There is a small adoption group on Yahoo for Udmurtia -
I'm sure the parents there would love to hear about
one trip to the region. The link is

UDMURTIA REGION

I would also be interested in hearing about this region. Who is your agency? My husband and I recently adopted from Russia. We went to the Kemerovo Region. It was 2 trips. We are already looking to going back again next year. Our agency just recently started adoptions in several new regions. I believe Udmurtia is one of them. While we would like to go back to Kemerovo, we would also consider other regions if videos are available. We, like many other parents, traveled to Russia virtually blind. Leap of faith.. While it worked out great in the end, it is an emotional trip. We turned down our first referral because of medical reasons. But our little girl (3 yrs) is beautiful, happy and healthy. We adopted Christmas 2002.

It would be great if you have any additional information on Udmurtia.

Thanks,

Pbrtn
