My husband & I origanally wanted to adopt an infant girl from China. Because of the long wait and because china is on hold now due to Sars, we are looking into Russia. I have been told that there are regions in russia that have asian babies. Has anyone had any experience with this?? Has anyone adopted an asian baby from russia? also, we knew with china that the baby would be at least 9 months old on the average. How about russia?? Are the infants there under a year old once adopted??
any info i can get will be greatly appreciated. thanks!!

In Russia, the children are required to be on their local register for 2 months and then the national register for 4 months. The youngest child you would get would be at least 6-7 months of age. My husband and I have been told that the more eastern regions of Russia have strong Asian influences. I would imagine if you go to the regions near Siberia, the same would be true. Also, alot of kids with "Gypsie" heritage tend to have Asian features. I have a friend who adopted a little girl with "Gypsie" heritage. She is absolutely beautiful!

Another possibility is Kazakstan (sp?). There is only one long trip of about 3 weeks or so. We personally adopted from Russia, but I just thought I would throw this out as a suggestion.

I have two beautiful children from Russia and a Lovely chinese daughter,my first.Due to the long wait and my age(40's) I chose to adopt from Russia.Both my children are asian.My son is from Astrakhan and about athird of the orphanage I was in were asian.Babies as young as 6 mos are available.My daughter is from Blagovenschensk in Siberia on the Russian /Chinese border and I have had good experiences with both trips.Please feel free to email me with questions at zoomkeeper@aol.com.Good Luck Nancy
