Question: Is there

There is a sibling registry on yahoo for adoptees from Guatemala. Does anyone know of anything similar in trying to find siblings of children adopted from Romania. I have a daughter who was born in Buzau in 1997. Thanks Nancy

I'm glad to hear they have such things...wasn't aware of that. I'm going to watch your post for someone to reply
because I'm wondering the same thing. My kids would love to find their 3 siblings also. Born 1992 & 1994 in Piatra Neamt, Romania.
Hey...maybe we should do it!

Yes there is

This was posted on another list serve, and she requested it be passed on. I have not looked into this, so I cannot verify its accuracy.

Kay

Hi everyone,

Four years ago I created a database to connect biological siblings
that were adopted by different families. Since I started this I have
listed over 600 children and had my first match. Yes, I have been able
to connect two families that didn't know the other even existed. I am
so happy I was able to help them because I think it is so important
for the kids.

My database contains children adopted from Eastern Europe (includes
Russia, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, Belarus, Bulgaria, and all other
surrounding countries) to see if there are any biological siblings
that were adopted by another family. I am an adoptive mom of two kids
and just interested in helping others connect their kids with
biological siblings as I don't know of any other way.

My son is 10 and my daughter is 7. When I started the database I had
virtually no information on my son's birthfamily as we adopted in 1998
and I was clueless at the time about list serves or anything else. I
had no knowledge about asking questions at the hospital we adopted him
from - the doctor asked if we had any questions and we said no. We had
45 minutes with our son before court and we wanted to spend every
minute with him. His medical report stated it wasn't her first
pregnancy or birth.

Since then I have done a search in Russia and found my son's
birthmother. It has answered a lot of questions. For my daughter I
have tons of stuff. She has one sibling that we received mixed
information from, so I am interested to learn if there is another
sibling that was adopted.

I know how precious my relationships are with my siblings, and since I
thought they would be pretty valuable for adopted kids too, I started
the database that I keep on my computer. I will not give out any
information to people; I will only email the two people with a match
and say you guys need to talk. They can decide how much they want to
reveal to each other.

I too am concerned about the information and that is why it is kept on
my home pc. I don't want some hacker getting onto a website and
getting the information. Plus, this way I can instantly tell you when
you have a match versus you having to go back and check all the time.

I am truly doing this to help other people as well as my children. If
there are siblings out there we weren't aware of when we adopted, I
feel I can tell my son and daughter one day that at least I tried. I
am on several list serves that I post to occasionally but usually I
send personal notes. I handle membership for the FRUA Michigan chapter
too.

This is the information I need for the database, but if you feel it is
too much, just give me what you feel comfortable with :

Birthfather' s name (first and last)
Birthmother' s name (first and last)
Child's city & country of birth
Child's name (birth and/or adoptive)
Your name (first and/or last)
Your email
Your phone number (in case your email changes)

My private email, that I only use for the "Eastern European Sibling
Registry" is mom2russians@ yahoo.com

Please feel free to forward this email this to other lists as it is
the only way to let people know about the database. The information I
receive will remain strictly confidential. I am just an adoptive mom
hoping to unite some families. Please let me know if you have any
other questions.
