Question Christmas Card/Gift Quandry

I went to Hallmark thinking I would get my son and his wife a nice Christmas card. I thought Hallmark had a card for everything; but apparently they don't have one for a son that you never met--everything seems to mention family memories and happy times shared. I hate to just send a generic card, but guess that's my only choice.

I wanted to send something to them to let them know I was thinking of them--but not personal gifts--so I sent a wreath for the door. Does that sound appropriate? I still have time to change it before delivery.

Mockingbird... perhaps you could find a card that is just blank inside, and you can write a little note.

I think the wreath sounds like a lovely gift... seasonal and not too personal... very nice...

Best wishes,
Susan

Mockingbird, I feel for you. Your post reminded me of the horror of standing in the card store trying to find a birthday card for my son last July--it would be our first f2f, too. I was there for what seemed like an eternity, in your exact dilemma--every card seemed to talk about what a cute baby he had been and watching him grow up, and just reinforced the reality that I hadn't been there. I went home and had a regular meltdown/anxiety attack. Of course my already fragile state from the anticipation of the f2f could have been a factor. Be assured, it gets better.

I agree with Susan. The wreath sounds perfect--alive and fragrant and evergreen...a great choice!

Best,
Susanne
