I have a few suggestions about getting started. First READ, READ, READ. There are a lot of good books (and bad ones) out there on adoption. The best, in my opinion, is Adopting After Infertility by Patricia Irwin Johnston. Most book stores are pathetic in their selection of adoption books --- I recommend ordering from Amazon.com or visiting the Perspectives Press website --- they publish tons of adoption books. Other authors who write well about adoption are Lois Gilman and Jim Gritter. Also, contact the Resolve chapter in your area, or if there is not one, visit the national website, www.resolve.org. WE got tons of info about agencies from RESOLVE.

WE did a domestic agency adoption, but there are lots of ways to adopt and the costs vary with the ways. Adopting After Infertility gives a great overview and resolve can help you network with other adoptive parents.

Good luck. I wish you the best --- you deserve the bliss of parenthood!
