I am the birth grandmother of a 3 1/2 year old boy who is going to be adopted if all goes as planned. This child was in my daughter's care until June of 2000 so he is aware of his family and we have seen him weekly since birth. Due to circumstances in my daughter's life she is willing to terminate her parental rights but would like to have fairly regular visitation rights(every couple of weeks). The prospective adoptive Mom would like visits no more than 3 or 4 times per year(and would be most comfortable with none). All visits with the birthmom would be supervised and at present they do not seem to be adversely affecting my grandson. The visitation for us with our grandson is not an issue and while we know that grandparents have no legal rights the adoptive parents are willing to sign a document that gives us rights for visitation. All parties involved want to do what is best for my grandson and we have been unable to get any sort of professional advice. The visitation issue is a potential roadblock for a successful adoption. We are looking for information from anyone who has had similar situations or just advice in general. Anyone?

To the best of my knowledge, no contract is legally enforceable once the adoption is final...you might want to post to the Legal board at
