Adoption research

Both of them are from our web site, at www.adoptionhelp.org, which has several articles about various aspects of open adoption. Many of those articles are excerpted from my book, "The Open Adoption Book." There are also quite a few articles about adoption at this web site; just click on the "Library" link from the home page. There has not been much statistical research on adoption in recent years. According to the National Adoption Information Clearinghouse (NAIC), there is no current public or private attempt to collect comprehensive national data on adoption. The most comprehensive data was gathered by the federally-funded National Center for Social Statistics from 1957 through 1975, when States voluntarily reported on all finalized adoptions. The NAIC has a web site at www.calib.com/naic, and the Online Publications section will give you access to statistics on various aspects of adoption. Finally, there are also several good books about open adoption and adoption in general available. Some can be purchased on this site (click on SHOP at the top of any page), or a free catalog of adoption books is available from Tapestry Books, 800-765-2367 or at www.tapestrybooks.com. Good luck with your project. Regards, Bruce
