Domestic Single-parent adoption?
Hello,
I was just wondering if any of you have adopted domestically as a single parent? Sometime in the not-so-far future, I'm hoping to adopt as a single mother and I'm just starting to explore my options at this point. Thanks! |

I am a single mom to 2 children. My daughter is 8 and my son is 2. I adopted my daughter from the foster care system. She came to live with me at the age of 15 months. Her adoption was finalized when she was almost 4. I went with a private open adoption agency for my son. I went into the books in late January. My son was born three months later. His wonderful birthmother chose me to parent her wonderful boy. Both adoptions were great. Good luck!

Thank you
Thank you both for your response. Adopting is overwhelming itself & adopting as a single parent is even more overwhelming, so I appreciate your input!

i adopted my now 4 y/o son from the foster care system (he was 4months when i got him and 2.5 y/o at adoption) the same day my home study was finished and i was about to go "into the books" for a private agency to adopt baby number 2, dfs called and wanted to know if i wanted my son's 6 week old sister!!
perfect timing! she is now 7 months old and i am anxiosly awaiting tpr and adoption! when i was going through a private agency, i asked for statisits (specific to thier agency) they said that 4 out of the past 26 adoptions done were to single parents. good luck!

domestic adoption
I adopted my daughter through a private agency. the fees were low, and it turns out the adoption of my daughter in April set of a string of them--they've had 10 placements since then, and have practically run out of local families should they get new situations arise.
