Hopefully Adopting my Cousin
I have a strange question that I hope someone will be able to answer. I am still waiting to hear an answer from an attorney and I am trying to be proactive.
I received a call from my Uncle (57 yrs Old) that he and his wife are pregnant again and do not want to abort or raise the baby at their age. They knew that my wife and I are having trouble getting pregnant and thought we would be the right people. We have obviously said YES!!! Here is the tricky part, he is a US citizen and she is Canadian, they live in Quebec which does not allow private adoptions. However, it appears they can choose for the baby to have the father's citizenship. If this is true, does this make it an international adoption still, because they live in Canada, even if the baby has US Citizenship? Any help at all will be greatly appreciated, Chris |

Get a really great attorney
Get a really great adoption attorney who knows Canadian and American law. I think it will cost you, but oh, it will be so worth it to get the right information.
