I am waiting for the "you are the chosen family call". I have been getting the house in order and making room. Making the garage to a room has really got us in the spirit for the kids to come on home. The other day I was driving in the car and I could picture the kids in the back seat!
I am so ready to have them home. So today we fixed up their rooms and I can see them in their rooms. I think alot of this is having them for foster before we moved states. Since then we have waited ICPC so they can come to us. So I know their behaviors and what they like. I get to talk to them and write them too. So they are in my heart and fresh on my mind. Any one else miss the kids so much that they tried to picture them in their room? I am not crazy. lol.. Just ready for them to be home.

We didn't adopt any of the children we fostered, so it was a bit different, but we did do a longer transition with our first adopted child. (relative to the length our other transitions) It was SO HARD to not have him just move in already!
With our second adoption we had to wait...and wait! before we got to meet him. The cw had to go out of town, we had to coordinate with this, that, and the other thing, and it took about a month. (this was an in-state adoption, so no ICPC or anything) Anyway, I remember that my arms ached to hold him. Literally. We'd been in contact with his foster mom and we talked regularly while we waited, and she was so sweet. So yes, I remember wandering around the house and imagining the kids home. ![]()

The quickest way to get a child's attention is for the parent to sit down and look comfortable. I expected that there would be times like this - but I never thought they'd be so bad, so long, and so frequent. Pressure can turn a lump of coal into a flawless diamond, or an average person into a perfect basket case. I used to have a handle on life, but it fell off. |
