please, advice is needed
Hi, my name is Oleg. I'm an official guardian (docs are issued in Russia) for my 8 years old granddaughter. Right now she is living with us (me and my wife) here in US. We are not US citizens, but me and wife have a permanent residence. The problem is that granddaughter does not have such status (she came recently here). In reality she does not have place to live except our home and I need to find a way to have her legal stay here. Immigration attorney to whom I talked did not give options for guardianship. Also accounting that we are not US citizens adoption of her by US law would not be option yet. We cannot send her back to Russia because her parents are really sick and she does not have any place to live there. It is a big tragedy for her. Please, if you have any advice for her legalization, please, let us know. Also because it seems that the problem involves both civil and immgration laws, references to good attorney would be appriciated too. Thanks, Oleg
