"rediness conference"

I was just wondering if anyone can give me some insight on what goes on at a "rediness conference"? I know it has something to do with pre-trial information, but not all the way sure about the detail. SW and babies attorney said i don't need to be there. They both said it is paperwork the SW has to put in for recommendation before the trial begins. I have been to every hearing since the babies beginging except for 1 when we were out of town. So i feel a little unsure?? We are in Santa Clara County, CA. Any info would be helpful.
