my sisters children were placed with me and my wife back in dec. 2002. we had all 3 of her children, 2 boys and a girl. over the next few months, the youngest of the boys went to his father and she signed permanant custody papers of the oldest boy to me and my wife. the girl eventually went home to her. all has been well with this arrangment for the past 15 months with no problems. even though the boys arent with her, she still is able to see them. recently, we received a letter and so did she on child support. the state is requesting her to pay child support and supply health coverage. how is this possible for them to request this when the courts gave us sole permenant custody and we waived child support.

Might be an oversight on their part. A lot of times if fosterparents or gaurdians are using title 19 (or some sort of state medical coverage) the state will make the bio parent pay child support and provide health care for the child. Just give the casework a call and they will check into it for you.
