Does it makes any difference who your child loves and how they show that love? You love the child you have. She loves those around her. If she falls in love some day, does that mean she will no longer love you? All parents of all kinds need to know this.
Your child has one mother whose body she was a part of for nine months. She has another one who nurtures her. I hope she never has a stepmother to further complicate the picture.

Love is a gift which must be freely given with no expectations in return. Who a child chooses to love is up to them, as it is to any person.

I agree hands down . . . you are the "real" Mother. I *hate* that term. Growing up as an adoptee I really resented it when people would ask me if I knew my "real" parents/family or if I wanted to meet my "real" parents/family. I would get so frustrated and I just wanted to be like "Do you see that person that drives me around, teaches me, clothes me, feeds me, reads to me, laughs with me, cries with me, loves me unconditionally . . . do you see my family? Yes, because that IS my family. My "real" family". I hate the term "real" because I'm not quite sure what that means. Does it mean something based in reality? Because, if so, then both are "real". It's not like the birthmother is a figment of my imagination. But if you mean "real" as in what we encounter day to day, then I would say that the woman who raised me is my "real" Mom.
