Warning to Users of the Foster Parenting Forums
In most states and counties in the United States, details relating to the identity, location and family and personal circumstances of children who are in the foster care system, or who are otherwise under state or county control, are legally designated as strictly confidential. An individual who violates confidentiality rules relating to children in these circumstances may become subject to administrative sanctions and/or criminal prosecution. These confidentiality requirements generally apply to everyone, whether or not they are licensed foster care providers. Licensed foster care providers who are involved in prohibited disclosures of confidential information about foster children may also jeopardize their present and/or future status as licensed care providers. If you are a licensed foster care provider, or are otherwise exposed to children who under the legal control of the state or county, you have an affirmative obligation to read and understand your state and county confidentiality rules. Please make sure that all information that you post on these forums is in strict compliance with the confidentiality requirements of your state and county.
