Great book for ADD and ADHD

The "Putting On The Brakes" ACTIVITY BOOK For Young People With ADHD by Patricia O. Quinn, M.D. and Judith M. Stren, M.A.

Written in easy to read format for children ages 8-13 yrs old, the exercises and activities help children understand what ADHD is and how he can use his strengths to overcome many problems. Builds self esteem, teaches problem solving, organizing, planning, maintaining control, following directions, studying effectively, and making friends.

I photocopied the pages and my son enjoyed working the activities several times during the school year. I shared the workbook with the school social worker and she started a small group of ADD kids doing the activities together.

The next year (5th grade) My son was allowed to go one-on-one with a second grader through the workbook to teach the younger child what he had mastered! This was by far the best idea his teacher ever had!

For adult reading "The Myth of Laziness" and "All Kinds of Minds" and "A Mind at a TIME" all three written by Mel Levine, M.D. The doctor makes a very complicated subject matter easy to understand. Helps parents understand the internal working of the disorder, choosing the right environment for you child, learning styles and study habits, and how to help your child more than succeed! How to stop the frustration and build self esteem, finding your childs strength to overcome the weakness, both of these books are fantastic! I give them all five stars!

Thank you, I will definately start looking for these books, especially the one that is the activity book for the kids themselves. I can even see my oldest (going inot 6th) helping my youngest (going into 2nd) while mastering the skills himself!
