Books and Materials For a New Foster Family.
Well I already posted a thread about the little boy we are planning on adopting.
Through our research and starting the home study my Family has also decided to apply to be a foster family we are sending in the packet this week! Does anyone have any books or materials that they wouldnt mind parting with? I could use any and all help I can get! |

None that I can part with; but, a recommendation - "Telling The Truth To Your Adopted or Foster Child - Making Sense of The Past" by Betsy Keefer and Jayne E. Schooler.

I recommend Telling the Truth to Your Adopted or Foster Child, as well. Parenting the Hurt Child is a great resource also.
A good children's book is Maybe Days: A Book for Children in Foster Care. Zachary's New Home is good for kids who've had an abuse or neglect background. My son asks to hear this book frequently. There's a new book I love that might be good for your son you are adopting. It is called Welcome Home Forever Child: A Celebration of Children Adopted as Toddlers, Preschoolers, and Beyond. Very sweet and reassuring message. My son absolutely adores it! |
