My 10 yr old daughter likes his books. She was abused when she was younger, and I think she likes them because it makes her feel less unusual. I like that she likes them because he turned out okay in spite of the hard beginning, that's the kind of message I want her to hear.

Yeah, his books are great, but my DHS caseworker made me take the ones that my 9 y/o fd brought with her to my home.
She felt that they were a bit much for a child her age. I agree with you that it helps them to feel less unusual and also allows them to see that he made it out okay... Now his mom was crazy...
