good family movies

This message was originally posted by wgordon.

It is very difficult to find suitable entertainment that is family oriented. We recently had a 15 year old male in our home as our foster son for several months. He was into the really explicit lyric RAP music and wanted to watch "R" rated movies. We started getting movies from a company several years ago which features 'name-brand' actors and always has a good story line in the plot. I took a chance and 'sneaked' one into the VCR and got him to watch it with me. He played that one video over several times and watched some of the others that we had in our library. Needless to say, I was shocked that he enjoyed them. As usual, most children will seldom admit to liking something that is good for them. However, I took pleasure in watching him view them over and over again. Each video will present some delima which the actor(s) have to work through to reach an answer. I believe the videos have good moral values and excellent Biblical principles without being "preachy". I won't get any kickback from this, but here is the URL of their home page in case you want to check them out. The videos cost a little more than those available at your local department store, but they are well worth the extra cost. Check them out at: http://www.familytv.com/
Addition: I went back to the web site myself and discovered that the videos actually don't cost as much as I thought. And, to give you some idea as to the quality, here is a short excerpt from one that stars Jonathan Taylor Thomas from t.v.'s "Home Improvement".
"WALKING ACROSS EGYPT"
" “She won’t even keep a stray dog,” Lamar says to his nephew, Wesley, an incarcerated juvenile delinquent, about Maddie Rigsby, a lonely widow, who has been visiting the teen. Although Maddie believes he’s a good boy at heart, she doesn’t feel she can take care of him, even though that is exactly what she needs to do to fill the void left by her husband’s death. When Wesley escapes from the center, he tells Maddie he is on a leave and she agrees to let him stay with her for a few days. The two bond, despite her family’s interference and his penchant for stealing from her. Now Wesley must earn her trust to gain the home and love he desperately yearns for."
