in celebration of boys...

OK, I have been thinking about how different my boys are from me. I know the following activities are not just boy activities and girls can and do do them as well. I don't have any little girls, so I am basing this on my own experience. I want to have a little celebration here in honor of my boys. Please feel free to join me!

I find interesting things in my 5 year old's pockets. I no longer check his pockets but make him empty them since the gecko that was supposed to live in his pocket didn't make it.

I have a HUGE collection of sticks, leaves, acorns, rocks, weeds, wilted flowers, and grass from my children. They give them to me and I usually don't part with them, although dh will after awhile. It's ok though, I know I'll get a lot more.

I lovingly display a bottle of dirt. Yes, dirt! It is Oklahaoma dirt and ds had never been to OK before so he had to bring back a bottle of their dirt. It is on my hutch! I will display it as long as he wants to. I did have to move it out of reach of my 2 year old, because he really thinks the dirt belongs on the kitchen floor.

I have more gray hairs that I used to now! My boys, both of them, are not afraid of heights, hard surfaces, and yes, they think they can fly!

My boys have added so much fun, excitement, and noise into my house! I love it and wouldn't trade them for anything. Yes I have bad days, but they are oh so worth it!

I wouldn't trade my boys for anything or anyone.

Bajj what a wonderful celebration!

As you know I also have 2 boys and love every moment. Yes they are loud, like to wrestle and run in the house even when you tell them inside. I have broken glass due to things thrown but we clean it up and talk about how we don't throw balls inside.

Recently my son found a walking stick in my moms garden while we were visiting my parents in Kansas. It was the day before we left to come home. He insisted that the walking stick would live if he kept him in a plactic bag with sticks and grass. He walked around the house with this walking stick on his shoulder. He put him away to go to bed that night. We left to go home and its an 11 hour drive. He had his friend for part of the way and decided to let him go when we were in MO because the weather was warmer. My heart melted, and shocked that he had been in the car with us for awhile.

My boys are the best thing that have come into my life besides my husband. The loud, crazy, and lively bunch I have are keepers forever. I love them dearly!

I love the dinky cars I find hidden in my sheets when I go to bed

I think his "tea parties" with Buzz Lightyear are hysterical

I think it's funny that he treats his toy cars just like I treated my dollies....they talk to each other and play

I laughed my tuckus off when I tried to teach him the word penis and he said, "No mommy, thats not peanutbutter - that's My pee-pee!!"

Thanks Michelle and Leigh for answering! I find toy cars everywhere too. My boys' cars don't talk to each other, they crash all the time! They are very much into Nascar and my oldest always has a race going on and he announces it and has replays, etc. It's very cute!

Not peanutbutter! LOL! Too cute!

AHHHH Boys! LOL! I am such a girlie girl, so raising a boy is nuts for me! This kid smacks his head more times than I can count in a week. And just jumps up and runs around like it's nothing. He just learned that rolling in the dirt and on the ground in general is just the greatest thing in the world. Ugh, the other day he said "mommy, cug (his word for bug)" I said "ewww". The next thing I knew, he was making a funny face. Why you ask, CUZ HE WANTED TO TASTE IT!! EW EW EW! LOL. Only a boy! He's a rough and tumble kid. Constantly on the go, playing with his trucks and cars to no end. But he has a soft side. Yes my lil boy has a soft side. He will walk up to me and give me the biggest hug in the world. He will pull me down to his level so he can kiss my forehead (where he learned that I am still unsure). I just love it! Absolutely love it! And although I am purely exhausted after a day of running around with him, it is so worth it to me! I wouldn't change it for the world!

How sweet! Does he give the big, wet, juicy kisses?

I was blessed to experience what it's like to raise both girls and boys....I must admit, I never saw myself having sons, but low and behold now I have two! I love them both like crazy, sometimes I miss the bows and the frilly dresses, but I have to say looking out in the yard to find my son wearing a superman costume, with spidy gloves and his jester hat riding on his trike pretty darned funny!!!! He's rough and rowdy and eager to make friends WITH EVERYONE!!! From the time he was old enough to know there were other ppl besides mommy and daddy, he's not found anyone he didn't like.....sometimes that scares the u know what out of me! My baby boy, well he's just as loud and rowdy as his big brother, but not so quick to become friendly. He'll stare at you like you've grown a third eye for awhile, but he's a ham when he thinks the time is right, shining those eight pearly whites at all the girls! What a beautiful idea...yes...lets "celebrate boys"!!!

I have so enjoyed hearing everyones stories about their boys.

I grew up with a sister and my sister has 2 girls so boys were foreign to me. The cars, trucks, running, jumping, wrestling, the sticks, rocks, dirt and the dandelions they pick for me that I immediately place in water and put on the dinning room table.

I must tell you my mother was not sure how to handle the walking stick in the house and how calm I was with it riding on my sons shoulder. I smiled and said thats just boys mom.

I hope more of you celebrate your boys.

Michelle

I have enjoyed hearing everyone's stories and celebrations, too. My youngest son has been sick for a few days now and I've been stuck inside and blue. This has really helped me a lot!

Thanks everyone and please, feel free to join in with your celebration!

My little man is only 5 months, but he is all boy.

He tries to dive out of my arms to bomb the cat with his sticky, grubby, wet, sweet, little hands.

He belly laughs with glee when Mommy bangs her head on the fuse box and jumps around going oww, owww, owww.

He is happiest when Daddy is throwing him up in the air singing their song which goes something like this-Slam! do-da-da, do-da-da! Let the boys be boys!

He uses all his toys like sledge hammers.

He never stops kicking and rolling and pulling up. He growls and he grunts when he is frustrated. And, he screams out in joy when he is happy.

He loves anything LOUD!! There is no volume control with this one.

He is super strong.

He loves to pull hair. Mine is his favorite. But, he also tried to pull the hair of the little girl sitting next to us in church-Good thing Mommy is quick!

He loves to sit on my lap and look at me sweetly. He lulls you into a sense of calm before he goes in for the kill. He dive bombs into my face with his face-to try and suck on my nose or my chin. Sticky, Sticky, Sticky!!!

He is devilish and charming and wild and sweet all wrapped into one.

He is 5 months and you can tell he already wants to conquer the world.

Yet, when he is tired-all he wants is the soft pillow only Mommy can provide.

I love my boy so much.

Peace,
K

My son was so stubborn last night that he wouldn't get out of the drained bath-tub....Dh left the room to grab a towel, came back....M was curled up in the bathtub, sucking his thumb...fast asleep

Dh hurt his knee the other day (nothing major, just knocked it on a corner) and was doing the..Owww, rubbing the knee thingy...M came over with a hammer to "FIX" his knee.
