I'm doing a non-traditional meal this year. My boys won't eat ham (will little one will, but I won't) and they won't eat turkey or roast beef (again, sometimes little one will). It is just the 4 of us and we will be leaving a few days after Christmas, so I am not going all out. I am fixing their favorite foods and I will get my turkey and roast and stuff with family when we leave.

I let big M plan our Christmas day meal. I have a new roaster from my parents....so must do a turkey. Big M love the turkey legs!
Big M planned the menu for the meal...Turkey, mashed potatoes, gravy (for me), green beans, strawberry jello, rolls, and pumpkin pie. Sounds yummy to me...I just have to cook it all.

I know y'all are discussing Christmas plans, but I have to tell all of you this story. It's hysterical (and gross!)
Lil D is learning about bodies at daycare. They have learned about healthy foods, germs, etc. So, we have this issue with him about picking his nose. He likes to pick then show off the treasure, then eat. (I know....barf!) Well he picked the other day and showed it off and put it on his tongue. At which point I asked him about germs and told him that boogers have lots of germs on them. To which he pulled the booger off his tongue and replied, "Wash it mommy." I thought I was gonna die!!!! |

Christina - Hillarious! Boys! That's a great Christmas dinner story! lol
We are doing a big traditional Christmas, having everyone (DH's folks and bro, my mom, bro and nephew) come to our house. My family for a few days, DH's parents on Christmas morn for presents and brunch, then big dinner and eve games. I think DH's bro is planning on coming after Christmas eve mass and staying overnight a couple nights too. We do a bit of a Christmas Eve (after mass) celebration as well, a French-Canadian tradition called 'le Revellion' that is carried out on my some of my Mom's side as a crazy party with a full meal, music, dancing the works. We just get together and play a few games and eat! I have the menu and the 'to do' lists ready. Tomorrow DH and I are going to try to complete them! The only shopping left is the freash groceries. yay! Then we have to clean the basement and get beds ready for guests. And other then that just general cleaning and tidying up. I LOVE LOVE LOVE an old fashioned traditional Christmas. I love to cook and bake too. I am jelous of the new roasting pan! I asked Santa for one and I'm hoping I get it or I may be hooped cooking dinner that night! lol OK here's my menu, It's pretty crazy! We are doing two chickens (I don't want everyone coping out of the games to nap and blaming on the turkey!), a ham, stuffing, fresh cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes, gravy, sweet potatoe bake (DS's fav!), mashed turnip (DS's other fav!), peas or carrots?, and a overnight 'flowerette' salad that sounds yummy and a cheese and pickle tray. We won't really have dessert, too much food, but I have trays of baking out pretty much all through the holidays. I made cookie dough truffles, butter pecan fudge, pecan tarts, lemon raspberry tarts, shortbread, rice kirspie squares, puffed wheat squares, spiced cereal snack mix and New York Trash (cereal, pecans, dried cranberries covered in white belgian chocolate). I'm hungry now! Sorry for the rambling details, I'm just so excited about Christmas! Enjoy the holiday season and many blessings to all of you! M

WE had my family Christmas on saturday, with my familyt all coming p here from Oregon this year (there were 20 of us all together). DH made his famous blackberry jam glazed ham, that he cooks an the barbeque. We also had scalloped potatoes, a corn caserole my my makes, homemade rolls, raw veggies (for the kids who would not even consider tasting the corn dish), and tons of deserts and cookies.
For Christmas day my inlaws come over (every year - every single year) and we just have sandwiches and the like. Keep it real simple so we can just open gifts then let the kids play with their new toys while the grown ups relax with maybe some cards or something.

Way to cute Ani!
My boys had trouble going to sleep that night. Little M at one time because daddy went down to the cellar and the doors makes noise and I hear this little voice go "I just heard santa, I just heard santa!" It was way to cute.

How fun Ani!
This morning the boys were waking up and big M says "I love you little M this much" and he spreads his arms wide. Little M says....awww thats so sweet Augie. It made me smile and thought what wonderful boys I have. Just so you know, Augie is something that little M has called big M since he was about 8 months old. Where he got it I have no idea but it has stuck. Hope you all are having a great week and I know for many of us school starts soon. Have a good one!

Happy New Years Ladies,
Sorry I've been MIA lately, but things have been busy. My oldest son heads back to school tomorrow. Getting to his vacation took forever, and then the last 2.5 weeks fly by. ISn't that always the way. I did post about a week ago, but it must have gotten lost in cyber-space, so here's a belated Merry Christmas :-) SO I got 2 A's and a B+ (in Chemistry, but hey I'll take it) The math and the science combined almost did me in :-) I only have a minute tonight. We are off to my dh's office winter party. They did away with the before Christmas party, and now it's the first weekend of the new year. It's really nice. Gives you something to look forward to, rather than trying to fit ANOTHER obligation into an already hectic time. It sure helps that they have filet mignon (sp?) and an open bar, but no late night for us, Alex's plane leaves out of Boston at 6:55 am, YES in the a.m. Oh well, I'm getting too long in the tooth, add to that babies up at 6:30, to stay out too late anyway. Sure hope everyone is having a great weekend, Shelley |
