Shelley you had me laughing so hard this mornining. Thank you for sharing.

Bajj don't feel bad. I can't even blame it on a full moon. Both boys have been very defiant. My 2 year old won't wear his new shoes. Finally had to convince him that they are superman shoes. He now wears them. We are trying to get rid of the bottle (i know it should have done along time ago) so he now has superman cups. Dh even drew the superman emblem onto the cup. To get him dressed as long as we have it red and blue we can convince him that superman wears it. And then every towel in the house is a cape. This is all in the last 2 days. Hair just keeps getting more gray or maybe just thinner....lol

Leigh congrats on the future adoption. How exciting!

Michelle

Shelley and Michelle, thanks for your replies! Shelley you had me laughing, too. My 2 yr old is like, "what fun mommy?"

I must say yesterday evening they were little angels. I thought they might not be since their Dad wasn't going to be home..turns out the movie wasn't playing so he came home before bed time. Anyway, I couldn't help but be awed at how quickly things change with the kids! One minute they are sharing and playing nicely and hte next they are screaming and yelling at each other. Wow!

I do agree time goes quickly. I can't believe mine are 5 and 2 and I don't even want to think about them turning 18 and going off on their own!

My 5 yr old is very much into even though he hasn't seen the movie, and my 2 yr old is very afraid of him even when he knows it's his brother in the costume! He does like superman, though! I need to dig out his brothers old superman PJ's for him...or maybe not, then he might be like Michelle's little one! LOL!

My boys have been little turds lately too! I wish I could say "Santa is not coming if you don't stop!" But, they are both scared of Santa so I am sure they would just be even worse thinking "Good, keep that big scary guy in the red suit as far away as possible! What else can ber break around here??"

I can relate

The title of this thread caught my eye and I just had to reply. I have five wild and crazy boys all ten and under. I could post story after story on how they have filled my days with joy, frustration, excitement, laughter and so and so on. There is never a dull moment in my house and I love it. If it's quiet then you know, someone's up to something or they have finally crashed from a hard days work of playing.
Here's one little story I have to share........my 5 yr old ( I think he was three at the time) took a paintbrush and a jar of peanut butter and "painted" alomost every window pane of my dining room hutch. I couldn't help but laugh. He didn't just slop the stuff on there. He went pane by pane in an orderly fashion. He's probably my most destructive rugrat right now but he has this sense of "oder" about him. I know, sounds crazy, but it's true!!
Loved reading all the stories!!!!

Sometimes, we just have to laugh, don't we? My hubby thought I'd flipped when I laughed at our 2 yr old when he fell off our bed and landed face down. We have a 35" bed and he was rolling around and he had his feet hanging off. He was on his back and he tried to sit up and literally flipped himself down. He caught himself on his hands and he wasn't hurt, which is why I was laughing. He was so stunned and it looked so funny. I know I'm a mean Mom for laughing, but sometimes, you just have to! Of course, if he'd been hurt, there would not have been any laughing out of me at all.

Sometimes all we can do is laugh right? While most of this stuff is funny now, at the time, it wasn't quite so funny. All I can tell you is dinner time at our house is never boring!! I've enjoyed reading about all of our son's adventures and what we poor mom's have suffered at their expense, but I wouldn't change a thing. Well except maybe the time the oldest son, who was 15 at the time decided to sneak out and and meet his friends late one night when I was 8 months pregnant with son #4. I couldn't sleep in my bed, and went to sleep in the recliner. Not long after going back to sleep I hear the window in the living room open. I can't see anything but a backlit shadow since the blinds were down. You've never seen a pregnant woman come out of a reclined position soooo fast. I started screaming "Get out, Get out!" I grabbed the first thing I could and started swinging it. AS I got closer to the window I realized I might want to put down my pillow and pick up something a little more lethal. AS i was going for the phone, still swinging mind you, I hear "Mom, Mom, let me in, it's me!!!" All of this happened in less than 15 seconds, but it was enough to start me contracting. That's the only reason that child wasn't not maimed that night. I couldn't move for contractions. SO as I'm standing there hoping not to go into to labor, here comes Daddy, scratching his bum asking what the heck all of the noise was about. What I want to know is not only where was Daddy a minute ago, but where the heck was that big old dog of ours? Anyway, I didn't go into labor. We sent him to bed to be dealt with in the morning. Made him wait until after I finished grocery shopping, let him suffer a little. I spent the rest of the night between laughter and tears. Laughter at what a sight I must have been coming out of that recliner big belly and all and tears at the thought of what I could have done to him before I knew it was him. I could have killed him, literally I was so frightened. All I have to say is, He's never done it again. Shelley

While it is funny to read about it now, I know it had to be terrifying, too. I'm thankful you didn't have anything lethal with you. Oh, the things they put us through! Hmmm...sneaking out, so this is something we have to look forward to???

I do love my boys and wouldn't trade all the frustration for anything.

Leigh potty training is not fun. My son who is almost 2 1/2 has to go every 5 minutes. So all day we go back and forth. We go to Walmart..he knows where the restroom is so as soon as we go by it "I go potty please" yes he says please. So I understand the frustration.

Shelley how funny and scarey. The stories will prepare the rest of us for what is to come. I think I am scared now.

Bajj, I laugh too when they fall sometimes because it is so funny and I know that they are not hurt.

Yes I laugh about it now, but still my heart quickens a little when I think about what I could have done to him.
The thing is he wasn't out drinking or smoking, I would have smelled that he just met up with his friends to walk around the base. WE lived on an AF base at the time. Which tends to give people a false sense of security. Just because there are people with big guns at the gate and a fence around the perimeter doesn't mean something bad can't happen. It would be very easy for someone to climb the fence, it's not that high and every foot of it isn';t patroled. ANyway, so far as I know that hasn't happened again. Knock on wood and cross your fingers.

Speaking of potty training when ds was 3 we were working on it, he had the #1 down, but #2 was the bigger challenge. So we were meeting Daddy and his co-workers for lunch, for Dad's going away luncheon and the little guy needed to go potty as soon as we got there. Well don't you know he did his business and when we walked into the room where the luncheon was he saw Daddy, and at one of those moments, you know the one's where the whole restaurant goes quiet and that's when your child says something terribly embarassing? WEll just as he saw Dad things got quiet and he said, well yelled is more like it "Daddy, I pooped in the potty!!!" Thankfully for Daddy we moved a couple of weeks later so he only had to deal with the teasing and comments for a few weeks.

I am infact gearing up to start potty training ds #4, am having a hard time getting motivated because our 4 yo daughter was so tough. I always heard that girls were easier than boys in this regard, not sure I believe it though . SHelley

Shelley you have the best stories! I appreciate the chuckles every day. I realize that this could be my sons as well. The good thing about my youngest potty training he is great at the number 2. Haven't had to change a really bad diaper in 3 weeks. He just doens't have the number 1 down quite yet. Of course grandma and grandpa are here visiting so it takes him off course...lol
Isn't like a parent to talk in numbers...lol

Well I'm talking in numbers because 1. not sure if dicussion of bodily functions is allowed and 2 numbers are quicker to type. You know how quick you have to be with boys in the house!!!
I think every parent with children has great stories, it just comes along with raising children.

Have you ever seen Bill Cosby do his "Brain Damamged People" routine, actually the video is titled "Bill Cosby, Himself"? Where he talks about his children? That has got to be the funniest video I've ever seen.
The first time I saw it, was before children and it was funny. But I saw it again when my boys were about 3 and 4 I think, and I just rolled on the floor it was hysterical. Check it out, it's good for one of those days when you question your sanity on having so many children and are ready to through up your hands and say Calgon take me away. (By the way everytime I say "Calgon, TAKE ME AWAY!!!" I get very strange looks from my children, and they want to know who Calgon is and why he's taking me away)

Here's to everyone having a week full of patience, SHelley

It's been a long time since any of us have commented on our boys. It has been a long Holiday season here! I think it's been worth it, even the hair pulling out moments, and I mean that literally! My 2 year old grabbed a chunk of my hair and luckily it didn't all come out, just some, and it hurt!

Anyway, same boy did something very cute tonight in church. After EVERY prayer, he said really loud, "AMEN." He also sang real loud. He didn't use real words, but that's ok, he sure enjoyed singing!

Happy New Year everyone!
