I have to take J1 (JD, Big J, whatever else I've called the cutie pie) to the dentist tomorrow. He has a permanent tooth growing in behind his baby teeth and they are not even lose yet.

Unfortunately, the only time they could get him in was right in the middle of his lunch period. I figure they probably will just look at it tomorrow, so I"ll take him to eat real quick afterwards and then back to school.

He's scared. Honestly, when I was a kid the same thing happened to me and they had to pull my teeth. I sure hope they don't have to do that with him.

{{{HUGS}}} for both of you!
I started my morning out by pulling my ds's tooth. He looses them in spirts...meaning more than one all at once. He has another loose one too. So the ole tooth fairy is going to go broke this weekend for sure!!

DS didn't get them late, but he's apparently losing them late...or maybe not, he just turned 6.

I'm not looking forward to the whole lose tooth thing. I did HORRIBLE with it when I was a kid and I am hoping he does much better. I think dh might have to deal with it when he starts getting loose teeth. Please tell me it's better with your kids than with yourself!

My poor Dad, he had a horrible time with me and he finally got to where he'd just make me eat apples when I had lose teeth so he didn't have to hold me down and yank.

*shudder* It was HORRIBLE!!!!

I think it will depend on how you respond as to how he will. I'm the one not dh to do all of the teeth pulling around here!! It's not bad...just let them work them until they practically fall out...that is what happened this morning...ds had wiggled it so much that it fell out!
Good luck!

Bajj, the happy news is that dentists have more anesthetic options now than they did when you were young. (Wait...you are older than 20, right??) My kids don't even know what the shots are as the dentist never lets them see them. There's happy gas, they wait longer for the anesthetic to take effect now, and so many other nice things.

Anyway, going to the dentist NOW is light years away from the way from the way it was when my sister and I were little. I mean, they don't use those foot powered tools anymore at all! The drills and everything are electric!

For pulling teeth of the wiggly sort, my dad has this teeny tiny pair of pliers that he used. I remember howling and screaming one time, only to find that Dad had gotten the little tooth out with the first little twitch and I'd been carrying on for no reason. LOL

He didn't have to have his taken out, which is good. The dentist said they don't like to remove baby tooth unless there is no other option. His tooth is starting to wiggle now, so that's good.

My Dad had a horrible time with me and my teeth. Just call me a wimp!

Well, I haven't taken D to the dentist yet. Due to my own experiences, I'm terrified of the dentist and I'm afraid he will be too. We'll see. I know I have to take him. I just wish someone else could. He'll pick up on my fears and freak out. I just know it! LOL

Hi girls. I'm still here and have promised Ani to be more active on this thread!

Don't get me started on dentists. My son had a couple of bad cavities when he was in kindergarten. We took him to an old family friend for the diagnosis (one hour away from our home) but couldn't see going back for multiple "fixes" so we found a pediatric dentist in our area for the fillings.

To make a long story short, the guy was a jerk. He actually made my son cry because he was choking on the bite wings (the x-ray thingys they stick in your cheek)!!!!! I heard him from the other room - he was almost snarling at him. H is extraordinarily shy with strangers, so his bullying demeanor just crushed him. Girls, this guy was a PEDIATRIC dentist! I got him out of there asap.

The lesson: talk to ALL your friends and find a dentist who is patient, soft spoken and good with kids. Our new guy is a dream. H actually enjoys going to him. Our neighbor recommended him, and they sent her a lottery ticket as thanks! No, she didn't win millions. Good thing too, or I'd be asking her to share.

Welcome back Donna!

Fortunately we do have a good dentist. He isn't a pediatric one but both of my boys love going. J2 had his first visit last month and he did great! The dentist asked me what I do for my boys to both behave so well. I started to say, "beat them, of course!" but was SO AFRAID he'd believe me! Of course I don't beat them!

Have a great day everyone. I just got back from working the Book Fair at J1s school and am trying to catch up, then get started with laundry.

Underpants.......WOOOHOOOO!

So today marks a milestone in lil D's life. He is in underpants!!! I had 2 pull ups left this morning when he woke up, so I decided to put him on the potty first thing when he woke up. He was crabby and didn't want anything to do with it and jumped off. Then I told him "surprise, ur a big boy now and ur wearing underpants!" To which a "NO MOMMY, I NO WANT TO BE BIG BOY!!!! I WANT MY DIAPIES!!!" And my calm reply was: "That's just too bad, there are no more" and on with the underpants. Well, he was fully clothed and I told him how it was important that he tells someone when he needs to use the potty and not to wet his pants. We were headed out to drop my boyfriend off to the train (to which we were running late for) when D just stopped and let loose. Then proceeded to scream that he wet himself. I calmly told him that he needed to tell me that he had to go, and now we are out of time so he has to go in wet pants. So away we went. Outside, he hobbled along the sidewalk to the car, crying and carrying on. And it was a bit chilly. He gets in the car and is upset that, now he has to sit in wet pants. So we drop off my boyfriend at the train. I decide we need to go home and change his clothes before daycare. So we get home and he says "why not school?" So I tell him that we need to get him out of his yucky clothes first. So I pull out his brand new Mater undies, and he says "No!!!!! I WANT BOB THE BUILDER UNDERPANTS!!!!!!!" and goes digging thru his drawer to find them. I put them on him with his new, clean pants. At which point, he tells me "Cooper (a boy in his class) wears underpants, and now I'm cool too." ROFL!!!! So, now he's at daycare, with about 30lbs of extra pants to hold him over in case of accidents. Bragging to everyone how "cool" he is. Fingers crossed that this is the end of the dreaded diapers/pull-ups!!! LOL
