Good books to read

I would like to read some books to help prepare us for our Polish adoption. There are so many books out there I thought I would ask for ones that you all felt really helped.
Thanks

Send me your email address via private message and I'll send you an invite to a post in my blog that summarizes all the books I read. I also make recommendations about the best ones of the bunch.

I'm too lazy to repeat the post here, so that's the only reason I'm not doing it in my reply.

Books

Go to your library and systematically read through every book they have. Even if a book is, for the most part, annoying or silly, you'll STILL learn something from it.

Also - there is a book I found that was something like, "What Adopted Adults Wish Their Parents Knew". I know that NOT having the specific title is not at all helpful. But if you happen upon something like it, read it. Very interesting!

I would suggest books on attachment. Books by Nancy Thomas, Gregory Keck, and others on attaching in adoption.

books

Whilre we have not yet adoopted, I have read MANY books, butI felt the most comprehensive with real, useful tips and advice is

Amazon.com: Parenting Your Internationally Adopted Child: From Your First Hours Together Through the Teen Years (9781558323261): Patty Cogen: Books.

Other books I read touched on various topics, but this book 1. describes the issues, 2. tells you what to do about it. I actually made a "cheat sheet" with various tips and suggestions. I figured when in Poland and the first year home, I may not have a lot of time to reread important parts, but reading small notes will jog my memory.
