New Here! Nice to meet you!!!
Good Morning,
We are very happy to be in this site and get in touch with others who adopted or plan to adopt from Poland! My husband and I always dreamed of adopting a child, and once my husband family is 100% from Poland, we thought that Polish adoption would be great for us!!! We have researched a lot of adoption agencies and chose (so far) to pursue an independent adoption... Our priest (we are catholic) is originally from Poland and is trying to help us find an attorney in Poland. However, we can't seem to find English speaker's lawyers. Our Priest says he can help us from here, but once we get there, if we can't communicate with the lawyer, won't be easy to follow with the process.... Would anyone have a lawyer to recommend?????? Also, I read somewhere that because we are part of the Hague convention we need to be represented by a Hague Accredited agency. Does this mean we can no longer do independent adoption? or just that our homestudy must be done by an accredited agency? Thank you so much for everyone's attention!! More than get help, we hope to develop friendships in here!!!! It is very nice to meet you!!! |

Welcome! I tried to post yesterday but was on my cell phone and lost my signal. Anyway, welcome to the board. We are a small group, but the people here are awesome. We have a couple here who have done independant so they can answer those questions. Good luck and welcome!

Welcome!
Welcome to your journey.
It's a long, frustrating, heart wrenching ride, but those little arms around your neck at the end make it all worth it.

We agree wholeheartedly that everything is worth it in the end. For a list of English-speaking lawyers in Poland, go to the U.S. Embassy website link here and look for the links on the right-hand side of the page. Attorneys - U.S. Diplomatic Mission to Warsaw, Poland
Good luck! |

Thank you for the answers!!!!
We really appreciate it!!!
We were able to check the US embassy site and marked a couple of lawyers out. As our homestudy get ready, we will be emailing all those outlined and get some general information. We saw that we need to fill an application, which is a formal letter where we state things like why we want to adopt from Poland, what ages, genders etc, are we looking for.... Does anyone have a model for this letter? Are we the ones to make it or would the lawyer make this letter for us? I was just wondering how people who went independent made this "application" Seems to me that this is the moment to stress that we have Polish heritage and are practicing catholics... So we want to make sure we get it right.... Does anyone have any info on this application/formal letter???? thank you so much!!! Stan and San |

Congratulations on your choice...we welcomed three little boys into our hearts last year and they are amazing...This is a very supportive community, I am sure that you will find lots of people here to connect with...especially as your process starts moving along.
