Pesel Numbers
Pesel Numbers are kind of like Social Security Numbers. You will need one for your child(ren) in order to get them passports.
I just wanted to let people know that the numbers for children born after the year 2000 (which will hopefully be everyone waiting at this point) are generated differently than those for people born prior to 2000.
Prior to birth in 2000, the number begins with the last two digits of the year of birth, followed by the month, followed by the day, followed by a string of numbers which have some magical meaning to the powers that be.
But since people born in 2000 could easily be confused with those born in 1900 using this methodology, the encryption has been changed and you will notice that your children have Pesel numbers that look "almost but not quite" like their birthdays followed by mumbo jumbo. Do not let this freak you out. The "almost but not quite" is not a mistake... (which is what my aunt and I originally thought it might be).
