Where did people stay in Warsaw?

And what was the approximate daily cost?

We are staying at:
Pensjonat Lila - Ciechocinek
for the bonding, which looks quite nice and will give us access to a pool for 7Zl/per hour per person. Great bonding environment, imho. I've been emailing them with questions, and it looks like they have Internet access of some unspecified variety, can put a crib in the mini-apartment and our meals are included, but they keep forgettign to answer my question regarding laundry facilities, so I'm a bit nervous that I will once again have to do laundry in the sink.

But we are used to motel 6es, so this seems a bit of a splurge. What were people's experiences with housing in Warsaw?

We stayed in an apartment in Warsaw, it was across the street from the embassy. It was actually kind of surrounded by embassys. It had an elevator (needed since we had a wheelchair) and a washer and a clothes line over the tub (clothes dried over night) and a small kitchen and internet access. I found a grocery store walking distance and there were parks walking distance too. I can't find the link right now but will keep looking. The people owned several apartments all over warsaw, and rented them to visitors, and the one we did was named after the street all the embassy's were on. My brain is also going blank on what the price was. It was small but worked for us.

Aurika,

We stayed at the Old Town Apartments right on the Stary Rynek. It was beautiful and convenient to grocery stores and just strolling around. There was always something going on there and it was fun for the kids, but it was very quiet at night. The price was less than a decent hotel room and nicer because it was more like home (included a kitchen and laudry). The company buys apartments and remodels them, then rents them out for a while and sells them after a while. Some are really lovely (we stayed in about 5 of them over our 3 trips to Warsaw last fall), and I think the cost was around 50-70 dollars depending on the apartment (we needed a large one for the four of us). Their website (you can search for it), has lots of pictures of each apartment and accurate description, and rating by former guests.

I think for some it may be more convenient to be close to the embassy, I think for you it does not matter so much because it would be easier to move around by bus if you are fluent in English, I suppose. The bus is very inexpensive and you can go to Lazienki and toys stores, or whatever. You can also use taxis, but be careful. Even though I am Polish and speak fluent Polish, a cab driver tried to cheat me several times. It had happened in the past so I was as careful as possible. E.g. he turned off the meter on the way to the airport, or put the meter on "out of town" rate. The sad part was that this was a guy I asked to drive us to many places so he made lots of money off of us anyway.

We also stayed at the Old Town Apartments, and I agree with Kama's thoughts. We paid about $100/night.
