Hello,
We too are very new to the process, just starting our homestudy. We are working with Catholic Charities in Chicago for their Poland program, and with Children's Home Society in MN as the local agency. We spoke with a few private agencies, including St Mary's, but we felt that Catholic Charities was the most responsive and forthcoming of all the agencies we spoke with. Best wishes on your adoption! |

Catholic Charities
Catholic Charities has, within the past week, extended the length of the waiting period for referrals to 9-14 months from the time the dossier is submitted and approved by the committee in Warsaw. We are still waiting, having submitted in spring 2003!
When we filed our initial application, the waiting time was listed as 4-6 months. Needless to say, this is all very difficult! |

The waiting is almost ridiculous at this point!
We submitted our paperwork in August 2002, and are still waiting. I saw one internet site that said it could take upto 24 months for a referral from Poland. (We are not using St. Mary's) |

My husband and I are awaiting a court date in Poland to pick up our son (11 month old Austin...nee Grzegorz). We have been working with Children of Choice in Buffalo, New York (where we are from).
We decided in September to Adopt. We spoke to the people at The Lutheran Service Society in Amherst, New York. They than refered us to Karen at Children of Choice. We received Austins picture in Late October, shortly before our home study was complete. After completing all the paperwork, we have been waiting a month for a court date. It seems like forever, but it's not. Any day now! If anyone would like more iinformation of Polish rules and paperwork for adoption, feel free to email me Dawn@usitek.com. I am an expert. I can assist you in completing the paperwork process. I can also put you in direct contact with LSS or COC. |
