Polish Ex-pats adopting?

My husband and I are considering adoption to expand our family sometime in the future. My husband is an American citizen, but was born in Poland and Poland still considers him a citizen as well. I am not of Polish decent, but we speak a great deal of Polish in our home and my son is learning to speak Polish at the same time as he is learning English. If we decide to adopt, we would naturally love to adopt a child/children from Poland. From the little bit of research I have done on these boards and on the net it seems to our advatage that we maintain Polish culture in our home. However, I do not know how it affects adoption considering my husband is still considered a citizen by the Polish government. Would we be able to adopt as Polish Citizens do and with the same priority? Or would this actually be to our detriment that he is a Polish Citizen? He and his family left Poland illegally while the counrty was still under Communist control. Any info you could share would be helpful.
Thanks,
Rebecca

I would consider talking to an agency about your question. I'm sure many people fled Poland during the communist regiem. I couldn't imagine the government holding it against you now. But, I really have no idea. You'd definately want that cleared up before you start the adoption process.

If he does have dual citizenship, according to what I've heard, you should be in a better position for adopting through Poland. Speaking the language is helpful too.

As I have posted before, sibling groups are the children who Poland is trying to place. If you are interested in more than one child, I'm sure the process would move even quicker.

Good luck to you.
