Info about Poland

Greetings all-

I'm an American currently working and living in Poland. My husband and I are also considering adoption. I'd be happy to answer any questions you have about Poland and don't have anyone to ask- or you're not comfortable asking your agent. But please don't ask me specifics about adopting in Poland. At this stage, I probably know less than all of you.

Take care-
Chris

Hi-

We are in Lower Silesia in the city of Wroclaw. It's in the south-western part of Poland. If you're going to be anywhere close, let me know. If you have any questions about prices or transport or anything, please let me know. I'd be happy to help.

Christa

To ChrisCB -

We will be about as far away (on the Baltic Coast) from each other and still be in Poland. Thank you for the reply anyways. I hope you have a safe and enjoyable trip. We are still unsure when we will be traveling...

God Bless, Janet

Hi Chris,

I was very interested in your mail. My husband will be transferred to Poland at the end of this year which means that we will all move there (we have two kids at the moment (bio-kids) and are in the process of adopting a child from Colombia). However, we really like the idea of a big family and we were already thinking ahead... While living in Poland we could adopt there as well... What process will you, as expats, need to follow? The process for internal or for foreign adoption? Do you think it will simplify things if you are actually living in Poland? Have you already started to enquire? I would be extremely interested in finding out more....
Thanks for your post!

Welcome to Poland-

If I understand the process correctly, Poles and foreigners follow the same procedures to adopt. There are no private adoptions and everything goes through the State. Polish parents are given priority of course. Having said that, I still don't think you'll have any big problems.

Living in Poland (or even at home in Germany) is a big plus for you logistically and concerning contact with Polish culture. It's important because people who have contact with Poland and Polish culture are next on the priority list. Also you already have children and I assume that you are staying at home with the kids at least part-time, so they will look at that as a plus as well.

I wish you all the best luck and I hope you enjoy your stay in Poland.

Chris

Hi Chris,

Great to hear from you, and thanks very much for the information! Have you already started your adoption process? If so, how do you feel it's going, and do you know how long it will approximately take? Could you tell me a little bit about your experiences?
We will be moving to Warsaw, and when we have a better idea of the timing I'll be sure to drop you a line on the forum. Hope you are enjoying your time in Poland, and many thanks again for responding to my questions,

Greetings,
Crie

Crie-

Sorry I can't give you more help, but due to some other issues we haven't progressed further than collecting information.

Have a safe move and take care-
Chris
