My private Pa agency told me that things have gotten really slow.I am told they have gotten no calls this past week or the one before.Has anyone in Pa gotten any calls or placements?
If so,please tell your story and give the rest of us waiting some hope.

I have had a few calls, but mostly for kids out of my specified range. We are looking for a girl aged 0-7 and they asked us about whether we'd want boys...which we love, as we have 2 bio boys..but THIS time we really want a little girl. But other then a few times, we have had NO calls. We are really wanting to adopt, but at this point if nothing happens by the end of summer, DH and I are thinking we MAY get pregnant again. We really want a 3rd child and still can get pregnant..BUT we just really want to adopt. We were officially paper ready back in late November 2008 and are still waiting. Yes things seem slow, I also am in PA and it gets discouraging as we wonder are we wasting our time. Will we ever find a child..or should we just go for another biological child which will be at least guaranteed. Adopting is a gamble and though we feel excited to do this..its not very exciting when nothing is happening. So I understand....wish I could give you some hope...all I can say..is what will be...WILL be...and if its meant to be then it will happen! Good Luck with the waiting..its the worst!

Thank you for answering this post.I was beginning to think I was the only one in Pa not getting calls.I would prefer sibling groups of 2, the younger the better but I have not gotten any calls.Yes its good if the parents are doing all they should be,but if they are not and it is not being detected then it is bad.

We are also open to siblings as well, a girl and boy or two girls is our desire or a single girl...we will keep the child(ren) under our bio boys ages...they are 12 and 10...so any kids we would be matched with have to be under 7or less...preferably younger as well as our kids are very small children, height wise. So we had to lower the age to guarantee that the boys would be taller. They don't like the idea of a child older and bigger then them and I have chosen to honor that request. I and DH are just so tired of wondering IF this will work out. As I approach my 37th B-Day, I just feel like I want an answer one way or another. If we aren't meant to do this, then we are really looking again, at getting pregnant before its too late. I hate to put a timetable on things, but really with my age and DH wanting the big V, time is running out for us and we as a family do not feel complete. So what to do? It's just sad at times wondering if and when someone will call us. We are so waiting for the child that is meant to be ours..but even though its beginning to look like the wait will be long..I just have to believe what will be, will be...I can't imagine going through this for years. So many people ask us if we heard anything yet and basically we got a few calls immediately after we were licensed...but neither we felt like was OUR match. Since December..it has been quiet. Here's hoping something gives already. DH and I will be giving it till late summer, maybe early fall then we may either switch agencies or go the bio route. Sorry for the long reply..we have asked about a girl in another state..and are awaiting the file on her to see if she could be a possibility. She's a long shot..but still I just want to know a yes or a no...on whether we could be a match for her...ohhh..the wait....

I am glad we made the switch although i really liked the staff with the private agency. They just were not getting any placements. Everything slowed down around Nov 08. wow 2 little girls!!! that is what I wanted !!!! My agency contacted me yesterday about 3 little girls 4,6 and 8 but the transporting of them is a big issue for me because of the distance.
I am waiting for another call.They promise me that it is coming!!!!

They promise me that things will pick up and I will see other wise I have the paperwork to switch.Only thing is I don't want to start all over again

I don't know what county you are in but wanted to know what private agency you are using. I want to switch from county to private agency and want a "good" one. It's better to me if it takes time and I value the relationship and trust the workers that I'm working with.

Funny, I would like to know what agency county you are with as well.I live in Dauphin County and I am with a private agency in Cumberland county.
They seem to not get the younger ones they say(funny because my first placemnt was a 2 and 4 year old).I just found out that the 3 girls they had they never even called me about.Just assumed I would say no.
I am thinking about switching to County because I left a good impression and they all know me well.

I'm with the county...they get younger kids but I prefer the relationship that you get with a private agency.

I thought you said they did call you...I must have gotten it wrong.

So, you haven't gotten a call for kids yet?

Maybe it was me.I emailed them and told the director my concerns.He then called me but I missed his intial called and called him back.
When I told him I was a bit upset about the agency getting no placements, he went through thr files and told me they had gotten 6 referals but I would not want them.
Strange, they never called me on any.They said that the last problem had no bearing on me not getting any calls.They said its just they rarely get them.So what ages did you get?

Our first placement was an infant boy (from the hospital) he went home at 5.25 months and it was very hard....read "When Baby Leaves" thread. Our next placement were two little girls. 2 & 3.5. They were a handful. They went home 1/27 (we had them 8 mos.). I haven't had a call since they left. That's 3 months now. I took it a bit personally since I had some run-in's with the c/w. I really loved the girls and felt in over-my-head a bit with having to report things and worrying over things that one of them was saying.

They also think I'm too "thinned-skinned" because I get bothered by the things the bio's do and say. It is hard me to imagine someone making false allegations against someone who is clearly loving and taking really good care of their kids. That would be hard for me to handle. Even their small criticisms would get my back up. Maybe I'm not cut out for it. All I know, is I loved my girls and my baby boy so much.

He came back twice now....and I'm not sure we will get him back. Each time they try to convince her to keep him...

I'm glad you cleared the air with them to know definitively what's going on. Tell them to call you whether or not they think you will want the placement, that way you'll start getting calls. Let me know when you do.

thank you I will let you know.At first I was upset that they weren't getting calls.Then he told me they were getting calls and chose not to even call me and it made me feel worse.At least I now know that the calls have come in this week and my hope is to get a call very soon.I hope you get one too,so we can share notes!!!!

We live in franklincounty and are with a private agency. We are considering switching to county. We have been ready to go since Jan. a referral for a sib grp of 2yro girl and 4 yro boy never panned out. We are currently respiting a 9yr boy and are being told he will be moved to our home in June. None of witch has been confirmed. It is hard to understand why our agency keeps advertising for fps and does not place children with families who are waiting. We already have agreed to this child who was out of our age range. We really just wanted to be there for families who needed some support. I guess if you think about it, children must be doing fine in their bio Sorry to be so wishy washy its all new and the process for us gets more cloudy every day.
