single foster mom
I am 29 and single. I own a home, have lotsa love and patience to give and am thinking of becoming a foster parent.
I am looking for anyone else who has done this on their own. I feel like people are trying to talk me out of it. Dating will be hard, life will change, etc. Well, I realize all of that... I would like to have children. And have thought of becoming a single parent. But why should I bring a child into this world with out a father, when there are kids who need a loving home, which I could provide. I know life will be different, and that I will have to work with the birth parents. When I want to go out, I will need an approved babysitter. I am thinking of all of these things...But this is something I want to do. Does anyone have some words of advice/wisdom? Thanks!! |

single mom fostering
I am a 29 year old mother of a 3 year old son. His father died when he was only 6 months old. I desparately wanted more children and after exploring my options: aving another baby without a father present, adoption, or foster care I decided to try fostering. I am now in the early stages of the adoption process. I too met a lot of resistance early on. Especially from my inlaws. And yes, dating has been a challenge but I felt that as long as the man knew upfront that I have children it was his decision to date me or not. And if children were going to be a deciding factor, at least I knew early on how he felt.

Single foster mom
I just wanted to let you know you may get more results if you post this on the main Foster Care and Adoption forum. Just a little advice I was given and it worked.
