Hello to the PA group. My name is Karen and I live in Western PA. We are a large family...two bio sons and three daughters from India. I would very much like to get information from people who have been able to adopt domestically in PA. I am particularly interested in situations where the child was AA or mixed race and they were placed into a caucasian family. When we tried to adopt in PA for three years (many years ago)...we found definate problems with our being Caucasian and our desire to adopt a child of color. NO Social Worker we contacted would even consider it. Our youngest daughter is 20 months and when she is settled...we would very much like to adopt a little boy who is AA or biracial. I really need some direction as to which agencies to contact. We found an extremely inexpensive agency for India...and would like to find another agency in PA who has very reasonable fees and who don't have a problem with a transracial placement. I pray that now we are a transracial/transcultural family...when we try in PA again...we will not be met with the discrimination we did the first time around. ANY and ALL info would be greatly appreciated. I am only interested in stories from people who have spent less than $3,000 for a domestic adoption in PA. Thank you in advance.
