just starting
Hi everyone, i wanted to thank you all for all the info you have on this site.
I have 3 bio children and looking to now adopt a child ages 4-10. Our bio children are 7,5,3. We chose a agency through the SWAN network. The adoption lady (as my kids call her) is coming to our house on Friday. She said she was going to check a few things and go over some of our disipline ideas and paper work. What should i expect???? If anyone has any insite please let me know.. Are there any support groups near Delaware county??? Thanks for your help Greta |

Greta,
I'm so glad that you chose to adopt through the SWAN network. I know there are many children waiting in that program for loving homes. Try to relax about your visit this week. Most likely, your case worker will want to just talk about why you are entering the program, your feelings and look around your home. Don't worry it won't be a white glove test- just to make sure it is a safe environment. I know when we adopted we also needed to discuss how we would discipline a child. Since you have other children I am sure that you can draw from experience. Our agency also wanted to make it clear to us that we were not to use corporal punishment. Hope all goes well and congratulations on starting the process! |
