Hi Gail,
My Husband and I are also considering Adoptions from the Heart for African American and Mixed Race infants. We are going to attend one of thier informational meetings coming up in August. Which office would you be using? We are also very interested in feed back anyone can provide about this agency. I understand if the information can not be posted so anyone with information can send me a PM. Thanks a lot, Poconoshopeful |

I'm just wondering what you meant about "mixed race"....my husband is German/Irish and I am Filipino. We're just starting to research domestic vs. international adoption, but I wanted to know if there are agencies that could help us with finding an infant with our cultural mix (Caucasian/Asian). When I see transracial or mixed, it often seems to mean a mix of AA and Caucasian.

AFTH
There is an Adoptions from the Heart group on yahoo. Here is the link for joining....
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/AFTHopenadoption/join I think you will need a yahoo username and sign on to join the group, but they have lots of good input about the agency.

We have adopted fivebabies(four Guatemalan born and one US born). AFTH has completed all of our homestudies and post-placements. I cannot recommend them enough for this phase of the adoption process. We have worked with Debbie Cohen. She and her staff are wonderful! They have been soooo supportive and encouraging! They have even gone beyond the call of duty in completing our hs extremely quickly, when it was needed. They are always willing to share their knowledge and give a listening ear. They genuinly care about the families they work with and have such a love for the children!
I'd be happy to share more specifics, if needed! |
