hi-i am hoping someone can help. i was born in pennsylvania in 1974 but adopted in new york. it was through a private attorney (who is now deceased). my aparents swear thay they never received any papers from him. its like i was never even adopted. all i have is my ammended birth certificate from pennsylvania that has my adopted name and my aparents names. i have tried to receive non-id information from pennsylvania but they told me that i wasnt eligible because my adoption was not finalized in pennsylvania. so i contacted new york and they told me i wasnt eligible because i wasnt born in new york. so now i am stuck. does anyone have any suggestions?

I was wondering if you had anyother information such as date of birth? and what city in pa? please let me know i am searching for my husbands half sister who was born in erie pa in 1974.

i am in a similar situation as you...i was born in PA in 1975 and my adoption was supposedly finalized in NY 3 years later. I was wondering if you had any luck finding some information...i am just beginning my search, and that is basically all of the info. i have. according to my parents, there are "no adoption papers" to be found, and it was done privately through a lawyer, whose name they do not recall, nor do they recall the name of the PA hospital i was born in - not too much help!
if you could offer any advice, i would greatly appreciate it. i hope that your search has been or will be successful.

I to was born in PA. I was born at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA. I know that my birth mothers name is Anna Freihart. I was taken from the hospital at just two days old. My adoptive family also used a private attorney (who I cant locate). My adoption was finalized in Nassua County, NY (Long Island). I have my amended birth certificate as well. I have contacted both PA & NY trying to get my non-idenfifying information but have been told....since you were born in PA we dont have it in NY. When I contacted NY they said PA would have it. NY also told me that they do not have any finalized adoption paperwork for me. However, they do have my younger sisters paperwork. She was adopted 2 yrs later. She has a different mother then I do. She was born in FL and adopted in NY.
I have my name on every register possible. I have also contacted the Freihart family here in America and they do not know of an Anna Freihart.
I have no idea what else to do. My adoptive parents burned ALL of my adoption paperwork once it was final.

It sounds like you are all refering to Raymond Rubens. If so he did pass away. Me and my sister are both adopted from a family in New York but were both born in PA. Same as with all three of my cousins. Ray Rubens did this alot. We contacted him in regards to our records when he was still alive and he told us that he had no obligation to us anymore and that all of the adoption records he had were destroyed.
