Hi..
I am looking for advice on a good parenting book...one of those kinds that has answers to parents questions and concerns that is really thick and full of info! LOL I have one here and last night noticed it was written in 1993! EEEK way tooooo old...the chicken pox vaccine wasnt even out then it was put on the shelves... and the info is so bland and doesnt help! I have a 2, 3, and 4 yr old and soon to be a newborn so I need info on any that fit those age ranges! Thanks! |

Check with your childrens pediatrician, When our daughter was born they gave us an awesome book that's about 1200 pages, and covers all the way up to age five.
Common things in it are, milestones, new vaccines (pros and cons) simple stuff (cradle cap, congestion etc) it went over different car seats (models) sibling rivalry (sp?) introducing new baby to siblings, preschool, etc etc... There is also areas in each month of baby's first year to record the stuff he/she is doing, as well as an area for pics and vaccine records... I'll look up the title and post it, but I know here it's a given that all pediatricians (well not all most) have it and it's given out at the hospitals to go home with the parents!! Take care Lisa |

Books about Parenting
Hi,
Here's a list of books I recommend ... Ames - Books written about young children by age - they are excellent Brazelton, T Berry - Infants and Mothers: Differences in Development (and he's written many other good ones) Chess, Stella - Know your Child: an Authoritative Guide for Today's Parents Fahlberg, Vera - A Child's Journey through Placement Fraiberg, Selma - The Magic Years: Understanding and handling the Problems of Early Childhood Greenspan, Stanley and Nancy T - First Feelings: Milestones in the Emotional Development of Your Baby and Child from Birth to Age Four Kagan, Jerome - The Nature of the Child Kaplan, Louise - Oneness and Separateness Lally, J. Ronald - Learning Games for Infants and Toddlers Leach, Penelope - she's written many books and is wonderful - I'd recommend any of her books Happy Reading! Nancy |

Dr Sears is a wealth of good advice. He is a Cal. pediatrition and he and his wife have 8 children. He has written many good books. I loved Night Time Parenting. Being a mother of 10 myself I have alwsys agreed with his advice!
