question
D" seems to excel where "A" is average for his age. This worries me a lot. I hate comparing them and instead of being excited when "D" writes perfect letters or sings a song, I am worrying that "A" hasn't!
It's very frustrating. I have a feeling that A is holding back just so that he doesn't have to compete with D. In fact when they were potty training D was ahead so when I asked A if he went to the potty today he would answer "no D did". LOL Does anyone else have similar relations between their twins or similar worries? |

not yet...
Hey,
I havn't yet had these problems but I do worry that I will. I guess you just have to accept that "D" is perhaps better at some things than "A" and vice versa, but maybe you havn't actually had the chance to see where "A" excels yet. Don't worry, I guess it's a normal problem for parents. You'll have to be prepared, though, for sibling rivalry! Serisously, don't worry! Keep us posted. Link ![]() |

My twins are 15 and very different. When they were younger, it was evident that one did things for the other so the other never bothered to try. Try finding something each one does well and spending small amounts of seperate time doing those things. They may just need to discover that they can do things alone.
Find different things to be excited about for each kid. My twins always tell people that just because they're twins doesn't mean they're the same person. |

My identical twins are 3 1/2 years old and are generally pretty in sync with each other in terms of development. However, "H" does tend to pick up motor skill type things sooner and "S" is usually ahead in verbal.
I would say try not to worry. If both children are in the normal range for their age, one being ahead of the other in some tasks is probably nothing to worry about. |
