OT - Question about vaccine content - need info!

I called Spiderman's pediatrician to see if I could get him in for the regular flu shot. The nurse asked me whether I had insurance or medicare? I said insurance.

Nurse: We have given out of the vaccine for insured patients but may be expecting some next week.
Me: I do not have to file insurance, I can pay cash.
Nurse: "The remaining doses are for medicare patients only!"
Me: So if we were on medicare he could get a shot?
Nurse: "Well, it is a different kind of shot - a different dosage."

Has anyone ever heard of this? Why would the dosages be different for medicare?

It's not a different dosage, it's from a different company. They are supplied by federal money, not private.

Just an FYI . . . you can always try your local pharmacy. Most pharmacies are giving flu shots and yes they are trained to do so.
